Not a whole lot has changed with my Mama. They still keep telling us that she is better, but she appears worse to us. The doctor said that she has ICU psychosis, which is what occurs when someone has been in either ICU or the hospital for an extended period of time. She sees and hears things, can't tell you what time it is, and just says bizarre things. Sometimes, she'll say stuff that makes complete sense, but then she's off the wall again. They increased her thyroid hormone this morning, so we're hoping that helps with her energy level. I really don't know what to think anymore. It's all so frustrating because she should never had caught this infection in the first place. She's still not eating, although she says she eats at night when we're not there. Through it all, she's still making us laugh at some of the stuff she says. They did start physical therapy today, and she surprised us with how well she did. My sister said that she even sat up on the side of the bed without getting out of breath, which is a lot more than we thought she could do. We are praying that things start looking up soon. Bless her heart, she's got to come out of this. Keep praying for her!
With love,
Beth
