Not much to write about today. My mom will have a pretty big day, though. This morning at 7, they went in and took the feeding tube out of her nose and put one in her stomach. She has pulled the one out of her nose so many times, that they felt this would be better. Also, after 3 long days of waiting, a neurologist finally came by last night. Someone was supposed to come by Saturday, but the hospital did not follow through on doctor's orders. When there was no mention of a neurology consult yesterday, I decided to call and see who the on call doctor had been over the weekend and if she was ever contacted by the hospital. What do you know... she never was. Needless to say, several people were reprimanded, and a neurologist came by last night and ordered an ECG and MRI on Mama. If after these 2 procedures, Mama is feeling well enough, they are going to take her in and remove fluid off of her left lung. We are, at the very least, extremely upset at how Mama's situation has been handled. We are so worried that some kind of permanent brain damage has happened, as she has slurred speech, hallucinations, and choppy memory. It's very hard to watch your mother not be your mother, but we have vowed to do everything we can for her. That's all we know to do.
Reece also has a visit with his neurologist bright and early tomorrow morning. It's just a follow-up appointment. I'll let you know how both his and Mama's neurology visits go.
Please just continue to keep Mama in your prayers. She should be at home recovering from "routine" bypass surgery, but she's going through something no one should instead.
With love,
Beth
